Frequently Asked Questions

Everything You Need to Know About Windshield Calibration & ADAS

We know windshield calibration can be confusing—especially with modern vehicles packed full of technology. Here are answers to the questions we hear most often. If you still need help, feel free to call or email anytime.

What is windshield calibration?

Windshield calibration is the process of realigning your vehicle’s advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) after a windshield replacement or repair. These systems rely on cameras and sensors—usually mounted behind the windshield—to function properly.

If they're even slightly misaligned, features like lane departure warnings, adaptive cruise control, and automatic emergency braking can stop working correctly.

Do I really need calibration after a windshield replacement?

Yes—absolutely. If your vehicle is equipped with ADAS technology, the cameras and sensors must be recalibrated every time the windshield is removed or replaced. Failing to recalibrate can result in false warnings, system errors, or complete failure of critical safety features.

What types of calibration are there?

There are two main types:

  • Static Calibration: Done in a controlled environment using targets and specialized equipment.

  • Dynamic Calibration: Done while driving the vehicle under specific conditions to let the system re-learn its environment.

Some vehicles require one method, while others may need both. We’ll determine the correct procedure based on your vehicle’s make and model.

How long does the calibration take?

Most calibrations take between 30 minutes to 1 hour, depending on the vehicle and type of calibration required. If you're using our mobile service, we’ll work around your schedule to minimize any inconvenience.

Can you come to me?

Yes! We offer mobile calibration services. Whether you’re at home, work, or a body shop, our mobile units are fully equipped to deliver accurate ADAS calibration on-site.

Is windshield calibration covered by insurance?

In many cases, yes. If your windshield replacement is covered by insurance, calibration is often included. We’ll work directly with your provider to help manage the claim and minimize out-of-pocket costs.

What happens if I skip calibration?

Driving without proper calibration can cause your vehicle's safety systems to give false alerts or fail entirely. This could increase the risk of an accident and may void your vehicle’s warranty or insurance coverage.

Which vehicles do you service?

We service most makes and models equipped with ADAS, including:
Toyota, Ford, Honda, Chevrolet, Subaru, Hyundai, Nissan, BMW, Audi, Mercedes-Benz, and more.

If you’re unsure whether your car needs calibration, contact us for a free assessment.

How do I know if my ADAS system is misaligned?

Common signs include:

  • Lane assist or adaptive cruise control not functioning

  • Dashboard warning lights or error messages

  • Camera/radar malfunction alerts

  • Sudden or incorrect braking or steering assistance
